New archaeological discoveries at Kobeba in Southern Iraq: Dr. St John Simpson, Senior curator and Archaeologist, Department of the Middle East, British Museum London

On Tuesday 15th April 2025 Dr. St John Simpson, Senior curator and Archaeologist in the Department of the Middle East at the British Museum was invited to discuss his recent excavations in Southern Iraq. 

St John has excavated extensively in the Middle East and Central Asia and in this lecture he presented the important archaeological findings of his most recent excavations at the site of Kobeba. 

 

About the Speaker:

St John Simpson is a senior curator and archaeologist in the Department of the Middle East at the British Museum. He has published on a wide range of topics, ranging from ancient South Arabia and Afghanistan to Bronze Age finds from Central Asia and Eastern Iran, and has curated several major exhibitions at the British Museum, most recently “Scythians: warriors of ancient Siberia” (2017/18).
